THURSDAY--Another Edition of......:

The weekly flip of the fedora to Jimmy Cannon

NOBODY ASKED ME BUT......

1) The great storm is over and the litigations start.

2) “Crazy Heart” may well be the most over hyped film to come down the pike in a long time---unless you can believe a beautiful woman with a cute kid falls for a falling over drunk who sings bad country music---and, he sure needs a bath.

3) Perhaps, sometimes, it is good to get a little piece of “hardship” to let us know what people in a devastated area feel like; and help us appreciate what we do have.

4) Did you know that those flat screen TVs and those play stations use up more electricity than a refrigerator.

5) Henny Youngman’s humor still stands the test of time---which is a hard test that will help “No Child Left Behind”---and is now featured many times on Sunday Simcha (WFDU---Sunday 10 AM), Henny Youngman, that is, not No Child Left Behind—they were left behind a long time ago.

6) Why was I not surprised that Benjamin Netanyahu would, at some time, create a U S / Israeli friction?

7) What a wonderful thing is the “San Patricio” album that The Chieftains and Ry Cooder have put out. It celebrates the commonality of so many ethnicitys and the prejudices against them by others who forget all the commonality. May your Irish eyes shine.

8) It is no wonder that in this techno age the Postal Service is having problems. A few solutions---end subsidies for “junk mail”( in fact, charge a premium) since most of that is already on the Internet, get rid of weekend delivery, deliver only 3 days a week which gets rid of a whole lot of pension receiving employees by attrition over a period of time.

9) How come I have just found another non-paying and non-pension producing outlet for my not very valuable time?

10) If our elected officials spend so much time on our behalf it surely must be tough to squeeze in all those “squeezes” that seem to implicate them in sexual shenanigans---shenanigan in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

11) Tupperware is still around; so, why do I not hear of Melmac anymore? Oh the glory days so well shown in the sets of “Mad Men” and in quite a few wonderful films.

12) Winston Churchill had it right; “Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into a very small hole with weapons singularly ill- designed for the purpose”. Of course he did not know of Tiger Woods off the Golf Course and on The Intercourse.

13) Other than sponsors (and you have to wonder why alleged singular thinkers follow a paid endorsement from a player) does anyone really care a whit if he plays golf again?

14) But when an ad says that 7 out of 10 doctors recommend a product shouldn’t we get a second opinion from one of the other 3?

15) If the Cialis ads are correct then the over 4 hour erections should warrant a 911 call---bet that would be appreciated by the emergency services.
